Eel Pie Island Footbridge

Architect / Engineer :  Camoron Holdsworth Associates

This 40 metre long bridge replaced an existing concrete bridge, forming  the only access for the residents to the Island. Delivered in two sections, it was built on a  barge, and floated around the island and positioned by the fall of the tide. Due to the light structure, compensating weights suspended on rods under the centre section remove unwanted bounce when crossing. These were adjusted on site to obtain the correct frequency.
